Body Double (X) *** , with Jean-Luc Verna

Body Double (X) *** dir. Brice Dellsperger

Saw this movie at a museum - the MacVal.  Its in a solo show with the artist Jean-Luc Verna.  He played all the parts of the film (seems to me) based on "L'important c'est d'aimer.". It uses low tech video rough incrustation to put himself in the scenes with multiple actors... he plays all the roles simultaneously - its all him. At first it seems funny and rough, but the acting is quite remarkable. A little boy (5 year old?) and his mother entered the walk in screening room near the end, it was at the scene of gothique church initiation rites type of scenery... his mother said, lets get out of here, and the kid said, oh, its too scary. Everybody in the room laughed.

Swannjie visits Miranor Kraus building shop

Swannjie visits Miranor Kraus building shop

Haven't been to sl for a long time, today I visited again because I heard that sl was getting 22million investment for... ?
So I popped in and saw Miranor Kraus online, she said, all her sl friends are gone.  She is lonely.
Most of my sl friends are also gone.  Some, gone because in real life they are gone.  Others have lost interest.  And I, always feels a nostalgic memory of the nice people, soft souls that I have met and became good friends with.  But I no longer spend much time there, it seems all the good sims have come and gone.  Dont know whats the new.  In fact, I dont really appreciate the "realistic" avatars.  I like the little bit rough and oddly wooden old avatars.  :)

Anyway so I changed my hair, into Simon Pink by Little Heaven.  Little Heaven a shop by Chico Duell seem to have closed in 2010!!  6 years ago!  Such a strange Halloween gothic Lolita style shop with a lot of inventive hair.  No more.  Not on sl market place shop either.

However, I read that Linden Lab has revived a sim created by a Danish creator.  LL did not buy the rights to the sim, they just revived it.  I think they should pay for it.  If its good enough to be revived as a historic piece then, they are admitting its worthy artistically and good for LL, they should at least pay for it.  Its a lot of work to build a sim.  Every detail is lovingly put together.  I dont agree with profit making companies not paying artists.  In real life and also in virual world - virtual world is created by real life people using real life time.  It is unacceptable to use the IP of any creator.

Here is a memory of todays visit.  Miranor Kraus a wonderful Japanese builder, consistently she/he has made many traditional buildings after accurate plans of real life historic sites and temples.

Dinner together: at an authentic local restaurant, met a very interesting manager. Without knowing before hand, I thought he would be very good on tv.  And, he was such a personality, he was on tv many times.

An exceptionally warm event, we have had a very precious local HK guqin meeting.
It had the right mix of vitality of daily life and musical culture and a link to guqin culture in southern china - Guangzhou, Shenzhen.  Not enough time to talk about many other facets of guqin art and culture.

Video clips coming...

Until next time.

Peter Pan of Toronto

Peter Pan of Toronto, lunch

I went to Peter Pan with a friend, who knew of this restaurant for a long time.
As I am interested in Everyday Art, so a restaurant is a kind of total art experience.

Whats on the wall, what foods they served, the manners of the waiters, waitresses, seating, everything.

Location:  Dowtown Toronto Queen St area, very lively easy to access place.
Exterior :  Victorian 3 storeys brick house
Interior : some original zinc plate ceiling tiles, v nice touch, the space is very clean and professionally designed.  Booth seating, and small cafe table for 2 settings and a long bar on one side off to the back.

Details : Persian carpets with animals heads totally encased in matching persian carpet pattern.  There were a few of them, very nice series of decorative art work.

Food:  I had fish and chips, the batter was v thick and oily - chips are ok, serving style is ok.  crushed peas in a tiny little 1 inch diameter butterdish, same size tartar sauce plate.  The waitress brought 2 little dish of homemade ketchup, which was v nice.
But, I wouldnt say the food was anywhere near memorable.

Overall I like the space, I would not go back anytime soon because the food was a standard fare of fish and chips and the outcome was really not so good, so I could imagine the rest of the dishes.

The waiter and waitress were both very friendly and charming.
There were very nice coasters with a b+w frying pan on one side and some comic strip on the otherside.
Overall speaking, the place wins on design, decoration and space.  Food is not so good.
Fish and Chips was 16$cdn

Time Made by Wind

Who said that,
there's no memory after the time,
and who said that,
there's no shadow behind the wind.

Who said that, there's no memory after the time, and who said that, there's no shadow behind the wind.」

small eco house

Big makeover brings modern look and function

The house is a three-storey flat roof structure with a two-storey addition in the rear. Flat roofs were chosen not only for the modern appearance but for rain water collection and green roof application. The house, with its modern appearance, is appropriately positioned on the site. Set back slightly from its neighbours, the house takes on a more humbled position in the row of houses.

The house is filled with natural light in every space and meets the client’s desire of acquiring spacious living areas to house a young family with three small children on a standard 20×120 foot narrow and deep lot in an established downtown Toronto neighbourhood.
To distribute maximum natural light provided by the skylight above the light-filled central stairwell, the stair guards are glass, and the walls on the second and third floors have either glazed partitions or glazed clerestory openings facing the stairwell. The open-concept ground floor layout, with large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls spanning the width of the house at both ends, provided a series of light-filled, spacious and fluid-living dining and cooking spaces. Great care was also given to have a lower level that is light flooded and does not feel like a basement.
